Power over Ethernet midspans connect to an existing Ethernet infrastructure and enable users to upgrade their existing Ethernet switches and provide Power over Ethernet capabilities. By sending 48V, Ethernet terminals such as wireless LAN access points, IP phones and network cameras are powered remotely.

PowerDsine's Power over Ethernet (PoE) 3000 Midspan family offers a cost-effective, fully IEEE 802.3af compliant solution for remote powering of wireless LAN access points, as well as other low port density PoE installations.

Note: A PoE Midspan (PoE injector) resides between the Ethernet switch and the data terminals, delivering data, along with power, from switch to powered devices. It is a highly effective means for injecting power into LAN cables.
